Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Actionway, local agents, capabilities, billing, execution, privacy, and support.

01

General

What is Actionway?+

Actionway is a capability layer for AI agents.

It gives your Agent one place to discover and access external capabilities such as image and video generation, voice, music, search, geo data, media processing, and other specialized services.

Instead of opening accounts with multiple providers, managing subscriptions, storing separate API keys, and figuring out different interfaces, your Agent can discover the capability it needs through Actionway and use it through a unified interface.

One account. One balance. The capabilities your Agent needs to get the job done.

Who is Actionway for?+

Actionway is designed primarily for people who already use AI agents to get real work done.

That includes researchers, marketers, creators, founders, growth and sales professionals, independent operators, small studios, and Agent-native teams.

Developers can also use Actionway directly through its HTTP interfaces, but you do not need to be a developer to benefit from Actionway.

What problem does Actionway solve?+

AI agents are increasingly capable of planning work, but many real tasks still require external tools, data, models, or services.

Without Actionway, using one of those capabilities may require you to:

  • find a provider;
  • create another account;
  • subscribe or add funds;
  • add a payment method;
  • obtain an API key;
  • understand another API;
  • configure it in your Agent; and
  • separately manage failures, billing, and support.

Actionway is designed to reduce that friction.

Your Agent can discover available capabilities, inspect what they can do, understand their price and limitations, and—when paid execution is available—request and execute them through one Actionway account.

Is Actionway an API marketplace?+

Not exactly.

Actionway is designed around what your Agent needs to accomplish rather than around a directory of APIs.

The underlying supply may come from different Tool Providers, but Actionway standardizes discovery, capability information, pricing, execution, billing, results, and receipts so your Agent does not need to manage each provider separately.

02

Agents and Integration

How does my Agent use Actionway?+

The basic interaction model is:

discover → inspect → run

Your Agent can first describe what it needs and discover relevant Capabilities.

It can then inspect a Capability to understand:

  • what it does;
  • required inputs;
  • limitations;
  • pricing or billing units; and
  • other relevant execution information.

When paid execution is available, your Agent will also be able to request execution through Actionway.

Does my Agent need to know every Tool in advance?+

No.

That is one of the main reasons Actionway exists.

Your Agent can discover Capabilities based on the task it is trying to complete instead of having every Tool manually inserted into its prompt or configuration.

Can my Agent use Actionway automatically?+

Yes, once you authorize it to do so and paid execution is available.

Your Agent may discover, inspect, request quotes, and initiate authorized Tool Calls on your behalf.

You remain responsible for configuring appropriate permissions, budgets, spending controls, and usage rules for your Agent.

03

Capabilities

What is a Capability?+

A Capability is an external function your Agent can discover and use through Actionway.

A Capability defines things such as:

  • what it can do;
  • what inputs it requires;
  • what output it returns;
  • how it is priced;
  • its limitations; and
  • how execution success or failure is determined.

Examples can include media generation, voice generation, search, geographic data, transcription, media processing, and other specialized functions.

Why are similar models or services listed separately?+

Tools that appear similar can differ significantly in:

  • quality;
  • speed;
  • supported inputs;
  • resolution;
  • duration;
  • output format;
  • limitations; and
  • price.

Actionway exposes these differences so an Agent can select a Capability that fits the task instead of treating all Tools in a category as interchangeable.

Does Actionway choose the Tool automatically?+

Actionway can help your Agent discover and compare suitable Capabilities.

Where multiple appropriate options are available, Capability information can help the Agent evaluate trade-offs such as price, functionality, latency, and quality.

Actionway may also support routing or fallback between providers for certain Capabilities.

Not every Capability necessarily has multiple providers.

Do I need a separate account with every Tool Provider?+

Generally, no.

A core purpose of Actionway is to let users access supported external capabilities without separately registering with, subscribing to, or managing credentials for every underlying provider.

Certain Capabilities may have provider-specific requirements or restrictions.

Where reasonably available, Actionway may provide information regarding the Tool Provider and applicable data practices on the relevant Capability page.

04

Pricing, Credits, and Quotes

How does Actionway pricing work?+

Actionway is designed around pay-as-you-go usage, rather than requiring a separate subscription for every Tool Provider.

Different Capabilities may use different billing units, such as:

  • per successful call;
  • per second;
  • per generated result;
  • per unit of data; or
  • another unit shown for that Capability.

The applicable billing information is shown when you inspect the Capability.

Will I know the cost before my Agent runs a Tool?+

Actionway is designed to provide pricing information before execution.

For applicable paid workflows, Actionway may provide a Quote showing information such as:

  • the expected cost;
  • the applicable billing unit;
  • the expected result scope; and
  • where appropriate, a maximum authorized spend.

Your Agent can then request authorization before the paid execution occurs.

Can Tool prices change?+

Yes.

Underlying Tool Provider pricing and availability can change.

Updated prices apply prospectively to future Tool Calls and do not retroactively change the price of Tool Calls that have already been accepted for execution.

05

Balance and Auto Pay

How will I pay for Actionway?+

When paid execution becomes available, you will be able to purchase Actionway balance using U.S. dollars and use that balance to pay for eligible Tool Calls.

You will not need to separately fund each Tool Provider.

Does Purchased Balance expire?+

No.

Purchased Balance does not expire.

Can I transfer or withdraw my Actionway Balance?+

Purchased Balance is intended only for purchasing eligible Actionway services.

It is not a general-purpose wallet and generally cannot be transferred to another user or withdrawn as cash, except through an eligible refund under Actionway's refund policy.

What are Promotional Credits?+

Actionway may provide trial, promotional, bonus, referral, or complimentary Credits.

Promotional Credits may have an expiration date and do not have cash value.

Any applicable expiration date or special conditions will be disclosed when the Promotional Credits are provided.

What is Auto Pay?+

When paid execution becomes available, Auto Pay will allow you to automatically replenish your Purchased Balance.

You select:

  1. your Recharge Threshold; and
  2. your Recharge Amount.

For example, you could choose to automatically add $50 of Purchased Balance whenever your available Balance falls below $10.

Who sets my Auto Pay threshold and recharge amount?+

You do.

Both the Recharge Threshold and Recharge Amount are selected by you.

You can change them or disable Auto Pay through your account settings.

Can I limit how much my Agent spends?+

You are responsible for setting appropriate spending controls for your Agent.

Actionway may provide safeguards such as:

  • spending alerts;
  • usage limits;
  • monthly Auto Pay limits;
  • throttling; and
  • abnormal-usage detection.

The availability of particular safeguards may depend on your account and the current version of the Service.

Can Auto Pay trigger more than once?+

Yes.

If your Balance repeatedly falls below your selected Recharge Threshold, Auto Pay may trigger multiple recharges according to your settings and any applicable spending limits.

06

Execution and Billing

What is a Tool Call?+

A Tool Call is a request to execute a Capability through Actionway.

A Tool Call may be initiated by you, your application, or an Agent you have authorized.

What counts as a successful Tool Call?+

A Tool Call is successful when the requested Tool execution is successfully completed according to Actionway's execution records and the applicable Capability.

A Tool Call is not considered failed simply because the result did not meet your subjective expectations.

Are failed Tool Calls charged?+

No.

A Tool Call that Actionway's systems classify as Failed because the requested execution was not successfully completed will not be charged.

What if a Tool returns a result I do not like?+

A successful Tool Call is not considered failed merely because:

  • the result did not meet your expectations;
  • an AI-generated output was inaccurate or incomplete;
  • a search did not return the result you expected; or
  • the output was not useful for your intended purpose.

Successfully executed Tool Calls may still be charged.

What if my Agent accidentally makes repeated Tool Calls?+

Tool Calls initiated by an Agent you have authorized are treated as activity initiated through your account.

If an Agent makes repeated successful calls because of its configuration, workflow, retry logic, or other behavior under your control, those calls may be charged normally.

For this reason, we recommend using appropriate budgets, limits, and spending safeguards.

What happens after a Tool Call?+

Actionway is designed to return execution status and, where applicable, a Receipt showing relevant information such as:

  • the Capability used;
  • execution status;
  • actual usage;
  • actual charge; and
  • other execution information.
How do asynchronous Tools work?+

Some Capabilities, such as video, music, lipsync, or other longer-running processes, may execute asynchronously.

Instead of returning the final result immediately, Actionway may return a job or execution reference that can be used to retrieve or receive the completed result when it becomes available.

07

Refunds

Can I get a refund for unused Purchased Balance?+

Yes.

After paid Balance purchasing becomes available, you may request a refund of eligible unused Purchased Balance within 30 days after the applicable purchase.

How do I request a refund?+

Email **assist@actionway.ai** and include:

  • the email address associated with your Actionway account; and
  • the amount you would like refunded.
How much can I refund?+

You can only receive a refund for eligible Purchased Balance that remains unused.

For example, if you purchased $100 and used $70, the maximum eligible refund from that purchase would generally be $30.

If the refund amount you request exceeds your eligible unused Balance, the refund will be limited to the eligible Balance available.

How long does a refund take?+

After Actionway approves a valid refund request, Actionway will process or issue the refund within seven (7) business days.

Your financial institution or payment provider may take additional time to make the funds available to you.

Can I get a refund for Tool Calls that have already been used?+

Generally, no.

Successfully executed and consumed Tool Calls are non-refundable merely because the result did not meet your expectations.

What if I was charged incorrectly?+

Actionway may correct or refund charges involving:

  • duplicate charges;
  • verified billing errors;
  • Failed Tool Calls that were incorrectly charged; or
  • Tool Calls that were clearly not executed but were incorrectly charged.

For billing support, contact **assist@actionway.ai**.

08

Data, Memory, and Privacy

Does Actionway store my Tool Inputs and Outputs?+

By default, Actionway does not persistently store the substantive contents of Tool Inputs or Tool Outputs after the applicable Tool Call has been completed.

Limited temporary retention may occur where reasonably necessary for support, debugging, fraud prevention, security investigations, or legal compliance.

Does Actionway keep execution history?+

Actionway may retain operational and billing metadata such as:

  • which Capability was used;
  • when it was used;
  • execution status;
  • usage;
  • amount charged;
  • job or request identifiers; and
  • receipt information.

This is different from permanently storing the substantive Tool Input or Tool Output itself.

Can I use Actionway as my Agent's memory?+

No.

Actionway should not be treated as your Agent's permanent memory, conversation archive, backup service, or long-term content storage system.

If your Agent needs continued access to Tool Inputs, Tool Outputs, files, context, conversation history, or previous results, you should ensure that your Agent, application, database, or other system has appropriate storage and retrieval capabilities.

How long can Actionway temporarily retain Tool Input or Output content?+

In limited circumstances involving support, debugging, fraud, abuse, security, or similar issues, relevant Tool Input or Tool Output content may generally be retained for up to 30 days.

Longer retention may occur where required by law or reasonably necessary for an ongoing legal, security, fraud, abuse, or compliance matter.

Does Actionway use my Tool Inputs or Outputs to train AI models?+

No, unless you expressly opt in.

Actionway does not use the substantive contents of your Tool Inputs or Tool Outputs to train generalized AI or machine-learning models unless you specifically choose to allow such use.

Does a Tool Provider receive my data?+

Potentially, yes.

When your Agent invokes a third-party Tool, Actionway may transmit the information reasonably necessary to execute that Tool Call to the applicable Tool Provider.

Do Tool Providers follow Actionway's privacy rules?+

Not necessarily.

Tool Providers may have their own:

  • privacy policies;
  • retention periods;
  • logging practices;
  • AI training practices;
  • subprocessors;
  • security practices; and
  • processing locations.

Actionway's own retention and training practices do not necessarily apply after information has been transmitted to an independent Tool Provider.

Can I see which Tool Provider is being used?+

Where reasonably available, Actionway may provide information regarding the Tool Provider and applicable data practices on the relevant Capability page.

09
